Prioritizing Worker Well-Being through Comprehensive Health and Safety Measures

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH or K3) for employees, contractors, and people within the company environment is our priority. INALUM, through all work sections/units and contractors, proactively and continuously identifies hazards and controls risks according to the K3 risk control hierarchy.

INALUM has implemented an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) under the Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012. In implementing SMK3, INALUM received a Gold Flag (Score 93.97%) from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020, which is valid for 3 years. In addition, INALUM received the 2020 International Safety Award from the British Safety Council. In October 2022, INALUM obtained ISO 45001: 2018 certification as a form of company commitment regarding the importance of OSH in company operations.

Occupational Safety And Health Management System (OHS)

PT INALUM implements an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OHSMS) in accordance with ISO 45001:2018 and Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012. The responsibility for managing Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is carried out by the Head of Safety, Health and Environment (HSE) Department.

To ensure the effectiveness of the OHSMS implementation in accordance with requirements, the Company regularly conducts internal and external audits, covering aluminum smelting and casting activities for aluminum ingots, aluminum alloys, and aluminum billets, as well as hydroelectric power plants (PLTA).

Internal audits are conducted annually by an internal auditor appointed by Top Management, while external audits for ISO 45001:2018 recertification are conducted by an independent Certification Body, with audits conducted annually for surveillance audits and every three years for recertification. External audits of the OHSMS, which refer to Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012, are conducted every three years, with the last one being conducted in December 2022 by an independent party with certification issued by the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia. The results of the audit and monitoring of OHS performance are reported by the Head of the OHS Department to Top Management for annual review.

Emergency Response Plan

One important aspect in the regulation is emergency preparedness. Therefore, INALUM has established an Emergency Management Team, as stipulated in Decree SK-018/DIRPEL/2021, for emergency situations such as fires, explosions, environmental pollution, hazardous and toxic waste spills, and work accidents resulting in human casualties. The team is responsible for developing and implementing emergency preparedness and response programs to protect the safety of employees, contractors, guests, and the surrounding community, while preventing environmental pollution. The Company also regularly conducts emergency response training and simulations to enhance the readiness of the entire team to address potential risks.

Targets To Reduce Health and Safety Incidents

INALUM is committed to reducing health and safety incidents through regular hazard identification, risk assessment, and control. It implements the "AGILE K3" program (K3 Appreciation, K3 Echo, Hazard Identification, K3 Locomotive, and K3 Education), and the Golden Rules (Establishing performance standards and worker obligations for high-risk jobs).

The Company has established Leading and Lagging Indicators to reduce employee health and safety incidents.

As INALUM's high commitment to OSH, everyone at INALUM has the right to stop work if unsafe actions or conditions are found and violations or non-compliance with applicable OSH/K3 procedures. For this commitment, 2022 INALUM will receive a Zero Accident Award from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia.

To improve OSH performance in the company, INALUM released and implemented the "AGILE" program (Appreciation, Reverberation, Identification, Locomotives, and Education) in 2022, which aims to increase the awareness and concern behavior of everyone in INALUM's environment towards K3 (K3 cultured).
