Cutting-Edge Infrastructure Powering Renewable Energy Solutions
Key to Aluminum Production: Affordable Electricity and Alumina Resources. Electricity is a crucial component in the aluminum production process, requiring 14,000 kWh per ton of aluminum. To meet this electricity demand, our company harnesses the power of the Asahan River, flowing from Lake Toba in North Sumatra, as the foundation of our Hydropower Plant.

Power Plant

Electrical Energy is a vital energy in the aluminum production process. PT INALUM has three dams and two hydropower plants which are also called the Asahan 2 Project, namely the Pengatur Dam, the Siguragura Dam, and the Tangga Dam as well as the Siguragura Hydropower and the Tangga Hydropower which utilize the potential of the Asahan River water which flows from Lake Toba in North Sumatra which is the primary energy The company's hydropower plant. It takes 14,000 kWh of electrical energy to produce one ton of aluminum. This generation facility is essential in supplying electrical energy for continuous production at the Aluminum Smelting Plant in Kuala Tanjung. The company's hydropower plant has a maximum capacity of 603 MW (286 MW for the Siguragura hydropower plant and 317 MW for the Tangga hydropower plant).

Regulating Dam is located in Siruar, approximately 14.5 km from Lake Toba. This dam serves to control the water level of Lake Toba and the stability of the water coming out of Lake Toba to the Asahan River to supply water to the power station constantly. This type of dam is a concrete mass with a height of 39 meters.

The Sigura-gura Intake Dam is located in Simorea and serves as a stable water source for the Siguragura power station. The water stored in this dam is used at the Siguragura Power Station, 200 m deep in the earth's bowels, with four generator units. The total fixed capacity of the four generators is 203 MW, and it is the first underground hydropower plant in Indonesia. This type of dam is a concrete mass with a height of 47 meters.
