PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum Achieve Certificate Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI)

PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero) or INALUM as part of MIND ID, BUMN Holding Industri Mining managed to obtain Standard Certificate of Performance Aluminum Stewardship Initiative or ASI V3 (2022) with scope of Aluminum Smelting Plant in Kuala Tanjung, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.  

ASI certification is developed through extensive multi-stakeholder consulting process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for aluminum value chain. This is the first certification issued for Performance Standard or ASI V3 (2022) updated and launched in May 2022 after the revision process for several years. This defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three pillars of Sustainability – Environment, Social, and Governance with the aim to address urgent sustainability problems in the aluminum value chain, such as biodiversity, indigenous people’s rights, sircularity, and the overall greenhouse gas emissions have been met by INALUM through the audit process independently by third parties, TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.

ASI certification is proof that INALUM is an environmentally friendly manufacturer. So in addition to maintaining the company’s reputation and preliminary efforts to register INALUM brand in LME, INALUM can also benefit financial when exporting to State concerned with low-carbon products. INALUM products consist of Aluminum Ingot, Aluminum Billet and Aluminum Alloy with a production capacity of 250.000 tons per year.
