Production Expansion, MoU Sign INALUM with Emirates Global Aluminum

Jakarta, 5 April 2022 - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero) (INALUM) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) working strategically with Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) – the largest aluminium industry company in the United Arab Emirates (UEA) on 31 March 2022. The signing is a strategic step of INALUM in the expansion of aluminum production up to 400 thousand tons/years in 2024 and encourages an integrated and sustainable aluminium industry downstreaming for Indonesia.

MoU signing was done on March 31, 2022 and in Dubai Expo 2020 event by President Director of Hendi Prio Santoso and CEO EGA Abdulnasser bin Kalban. In the event Vice Chairman of EGA Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, EGA Board member Mosbbeh Al Kaabi and Ambassador of Indonesia for the UAE Husin Fors.

Main regulation of Hendi Prio Santoso said: “INALUM is optimistic this strategic cooperation will improve the performance of the Company. We believe this collaboration will provide renewal to the application of modern smelting technologies owned by EGA in INALUM. We also look forward to other major achievements with EGA in the industrial ecosystem of aluminum in Indonesia, both nowadays and new projects in the future”

CEO EGA Abdulnasser bin Kalban said: “ This agreement further deepens our cooperation with INALUM, based on the potential of the use of EGA technology in a number of development projects in Indonesia. Our goal is to develop our position as a choice technology provider in our industry, developing revenue streams for EGA from technology licenses and further possibilities, while strengthening relationships between our two countries.”

In one of the loneliness mentioned that INALUM and EGA will do feasibility study in terms of use of EGA technology in Smelter INALUM Kuala Tanjung North Sumatra in order to increase production up to 400.000 tons per year. The Agreement also mentions about the description in terms of EGA investment in INALUM in order to increase the value chain of aluminum industry. It is hoped that this loneliness can explore new potentials in the sector of the undeveloped aluminium processing industry in Indonesia.

EGA as a world-class aluminum smelting and processing company for 25 years in the UAE has done the development of technology independently in terms of aluminum smelting. The development of this technology has made EGA as one of the world’s largest smelting and aluminum processing companies.
