Batu Bara, 5 February 2022 - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero) received a visit from Commission VII DPR RI at the Kuala Tanjung Smelter. The visit was part of the Commission VII DPR RI's Specific Work Visit in reviewing INALUM's readiness as the face of the national aluminum smelting industry. At the same time hearing the steps of the DPR in supporting the acceleration of increasing INALUM's production capacity.
Director of Operations and Portfolio of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero) Danny Praditya said there were a number of strategic steps in making INALUM a company that could integrate the company's business lines from upstream to downstream. So that the aluminum industry ecosystem can be integrated and the vision of INALUM players becoming bigger can be realized.
"To remain a big player and as a step to increase production, INALUM intends to consolidate the upstream to downstream business. This means from the raw material of bauxite to become aluminum. Therefore we need synergy and collaboration with all stakeholders, including private strategic partners in capacity building investments, as well as the government regarding policies that support industrial development (eg tariff incentives, levy and tax relief to support economic projects and the development of downstream aluminum industrialization). )," said Danny.
Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Sugeng Suparwoto said that Commission VII DPR RI supports INALUM's steps in increasing production and becoming a big player in Indonesia. Sugeng said Commission VII DPR RI would form a Team for the Acceleration of Increasing INALUM's Production Capacity. "We from Commission VII DPR RI fully support INALUM's steps to increase production. Therefore, Commission VII will form a Team for the Acceleration of Increasing INALUM's Production Capacity. This is considered important because SOEs will receive supervision that is accountable and in accordance with regulations, as well as that INALUM's progress will provide sustainable benefits for society," said Sugeng.
During the visit, Danny also added that apart from increasing production, INALUM also intends to carry out a series of technological and innovation improvements in both the operational and human resource aspects. These include operational digitization, research development, and development of competitive quality human resources.
"INALUM will implement the spirit of Industry 4.0 with digitalization steps in all operations, both at the factory and at the smelter. We are also expanding R&D comprehensively so that our products are better, as well as developing human resources by conducting training and rotation so that each human resource becomes more competitive and agile," added Danny.
Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ridwan Djamaluddin, said that downstreaming is a necessity because of the mandate of the Minerba Law. So it's not another visit, but it has to be done. Therefore, synergy is needed between BUMN, ESDM, Ministry of Industry and DPR.
"Downstreaming is no longer an ideal, but rather a necessity because it is a mandate from the Minerba Law. So there needs to be synergy between many parties, in this case state-owned companies, ESDM, the Ministry of Industry and the DPR itself. "Because without synergy, speed in making decisions, and a big vision, downstreaming will never be achieved," said Ridwan.
The Specific Work Visit, apart from including INALUM's executive directors and top management, was also attended by the Director General of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ridwan Djamaluddin, Director of the ILMATE Metal Industry, Ministry of Industry, Liliek Widodo, Head of BP2RD, North Sumatra Provincial Government, Fadli Dalimunthe, and Deputy Regent of Batu Bara Regency, Oky Iqbal Frima.
