Kuala Tanjung Smelter Performs 5 Eco-Innovations

Batu Bara, Jan, 15th 2024 - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum or INALUM is carrying out five Eco-Innovation programs in the operations of the Kuala Tanjung Smelter. This step is the company's commitment to creating a modern and environmentally friendly aluminum industry in accordance with the company's vision and mission.

INALUM Corporate Secretary Mahyaruddin Ende said that these programs were the company's commitment to innovation with the aim of realizing the company's vision. As well as creating efficient, effective and environmentally friendly company operations.

"Throughout its 48 years of existence, INALUM has been committed to continuing to create innovation and modernization in the company's operations. The Eco-Innovation Program at the Kuala Tanjung Smelter is one of them. Several steps were taken and created significant results. "We hope to be able to create further innovations to maintain the modern and environmentally friendly face of the national aluminum industry," said Mahyaruddin.

The Eco-Innovation Program carried out by the company during 2023 includes Energy Savings, Emission Reduction, Utilization of Used Scrap, Reduction of Sludge Waste, and Water Recycle Program. The program lasts for a year and during the program implementation process it is carried out in collaboration between sections and carries out continuous innovations to get maximum results.

In terms of energy savings, INALUM succeeded in saving 70.85 MWH / 255.03 GJ of energy. Meanwhile, to reduce emissions produced by the busbar process, INALUM succeeded in reducing emissions by up to 3,523.62 tonnes of CO2. Then in terms of recycling, INALUM succeeded in utilizing used scrap reaching 90.9 tonnes. Then for sludge waste management, INALUM succeeded in reducing sludge waste produced by IPAL by up to 157.36 tonnes. Finally, for clean water management, INALUM is carrying out a cooling tower water recycling program of up to 278,971 m3.

These five programs are also an effort to increase the company's sustainability as evidence of participating in building a sustainable future. INALUM also prioritizes environmental preservation, promotes social responsibility, maintains effective governance practices, fosters strong relationships with investors, and submits transparent sustainability reports.
