Products Increasingly Competitive, INALUM Conducts First Export of 7000 Metric Tons

Kuala Tanjung, 30 Maret 2024 - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum or INALUM  exported 7,000 MT of G-1 Series Aluminum Ingots to China as well as the corporation's first export moment in 2024. The exports carried out at INALUM Port in Kuala Tanjung are proof that INALUM products are increasingly competitive in the global market.

INALUM Corporate Secretary Mahyaruddin Ende said that the 7000MT export moment was the result of the company's efforts to create global standard quality aluminum products. This is also a step for the company to expand its market not only in the domestic market but also in the global market.

"This export moment is a step for the company in terms of expanding the aluminum market, especially the global market. "This is in line with one of the three mandates given by the government to the BUMN Holding MIND ID family, namely related to having market leadership which is realized through optimizing mineral commodities and business expansion, as well as proving the corporation's ability to meet the needs of the domestic market and also the international market." said Mahyaruddin.

A total of 7000 MT of G1 Series Aluminum Ingots will be the first export commodity in 2024. The product loading and delivery process will be carried out at INALUM Port in Kuala Tanjung on March 28 and 29 2024.

Aluminum Ingot is an INALUM product producing premium quality Aluminum Ingot. There are several qualities produced by Inalum, but the most popular is 99.90%. Aluminum Ingots produced by INALUM weigh 22.7 kg per bar with two levels of aluminum purity; 99.90% and 99.70%. The quality of Inalum Aluminum Ingot refers to JIS h2102 (Virgin Aluminum Ingot) and JIS H1305 (Optical Emission Spectrochemical Analysis Method for Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys). INALUM produces 4 types of aluminum ingots based on purity levels, namely: S1-A (99.92%), S1-B (99.90%), S2 (99.85%), and G1 (99.70%). Aluminum Ingots generally require a remelting process so that they can be formed into various final products, such as automotive components, building construction, etc.

Based on the results of Wood Mackenzie's research in September 2023, it was stated that in the medium term, it is projected that the aluminum market balance in Indonesia will experience a surplus. However, the aluminum market in Asia is still experiencing a deficit. This is an opportunity for the domestic aluminum industry to expand its market share in the Asian region as well as a potential for corporations to carry out larger business expansion.

These projects include: Construction of the Mempawah Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR), Reduction Furnace Technology Upgrading Project in 2023, Optimization of the Kuala Tanjung Smelter which is targeted to increase production capacity in 2024-2025 and the IAA Aluminum Remelt Diversification Project.
