INALUM Poultry Commitment to Green Economy Indonesia’s Green Economy and the National Strategic Area of Lake Toba

Toba, 30 April 2022 - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero) or INALUM expressly to continue commit to being a strategic partner of the Government and society in order to realize the National Strategic Area of Lake Toba. This step is a INALUM commitment in providing sustainable benefits for the Toba Lake Area.

Senior Vice President of the Secretary of the Company INALUM, Mahyaruddin Ende, stated that INALUM since first, when the status of the Foreign Capital Company (PMA) until it has been stated the State Owned Enterprise (BUMN) is always committed to being one of the leading motors in the development and preservation of the Toba Lake Area for today and in the future to come.

As we believe, Lake Toba is a blessing for Indonesia and the INALUM itself, ” said Mahyaruddin Ende.

Usaha preservation and development of Lake Toba area was carried out by INALUM since 1976. When the INALUM is still in the PMA (1976-2013), the efforts to preserve the Lake Toba area is carried out through the Good Infrastructure through environmental fund management, and the contribution of the annual fee paid to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Furthermore, although Otorita Asahan has ended his duty through PERPRES No. 73 of 2018 and INALUM has been status BUMN in 2013, Businesses of preservation and development of Lake Toba area remains carried out through two main programs namely Planting Trees of the Water Capture and UMKM Development.

Senior Vice President TJSL/CSR INALUM, Ismail Midi, call throughout 2015 - 2021, INALUM has planted more than 700 thousand seedlings of trees in an area of more than 1,400 hectares scattered in 7 Kab/City which became part of Lake Toba Area. Ismail also confirmed the program continues to proceed by collaborating with various parties to maximize preservation efforts.

“Since 2015– 2021, PT INALUM (Persero) has carried out conservation activities by planting as 732.265 trees in an area of 1.410,63 Ha in 7 districts around Lake Toba. The activity works together with several parties among other Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Provincial Forestry Office /Kabupaten, Forest Management Unity (KPH), Environment Office (DLH), NGO, Public Group, Forest Tani Group, TNI, Polri and BUMN Mitra&quo; said.

Inalum 2022, PT Inalum (Persero) planned planting 282.148 trees consisting of the Tangkapan Air Conservation Program (DTA) Lake Toba and also cooperated with various parties with a total area of 445,37 Ha. This commitment is a full support of INALUM against the Indonesian government program that makes the Toba Lake region as the Super Priority Tourism Destination Area.

Not only the preservation of the environment, As one of the forms of CSR, INALUM also made an effort to develop UMKM that during this hangs his life from Lake Toba. It was recorded since 2014 to 2021, INALUM has channeled more than Rp190 billion in the framework of CSR development in North Sumatra, where more than Rp86 billion was channeled to 7 districts around Lake Toba area.
