Do Tree Plantation, INALUM So Tuan Home Bakti BUMN For Indonesia in Toba Lake Area

Paropo, March 29th 2022 - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero) conducts a tree planting program in the Paropo region while serving tree seedlings to Tongging communities in North Sumatra. This activity is part of the implementation of the Bakti BUMN program for Indonesia in North Sumatra. In this activity, INALUM as a host of events appoints commitment and invites volunteers in maintaining Toba Lake Area that becomes the heart of North Sumatra while maintaining energy sources from the company’s operations.

Executive Director of Yayasan BUMN Syafuan called Bakti BUMN program For Indonesia is a pilot project from the BUMN Foundation and the Ministry of BUMN aims to innovate the company’s TJSL program, the spirit of Volunterism, and the spirit of togetherness. Syafuan hopes that the next program can continue to run in many points in Indonesia.

“Accord with the nature of the Foundation, the BUMN Foundation in conducting its activity always involves volunteers. Through this program we get insight that many BUMN employees have high social sensitivity and are interested in being volunteers. The BUMN Foundation supports the initiatives of the Ministry of BUMN in providing containers for the BUMN Employees. In the future, we hope this program can continue to run so that the activities provided with the community can impact more widespread and sustainable.,” said Syafuan.

Since this program encourages collaboration of all BUMN companies in Indonesia to be able to synergize and collaborate to resolve any problems in society and surrounding environment. However, providing information that BUMN in Indonesia is not only present as a company entity that pursues profit only, but also as a company entity who pursues utilities for society and environment. I hope that this program can continue to exist, in different locations, with more participants as well,” said Ismail Midi.

In the Bakti BUMN program for Indonesia held in Lake Toba, PT INALUM (Persero) is secured to host the activities. The activity lasts from March 26, 2022 to March 29, 2022 with the main agenda of planting trees in the Toba Lake Water Capture Area in Paropo Village, Silahisabungan District, Dairi District, North Sumatra.

Vice President Power Plant Enviromental & Sustainability (PES) INALUM, Sunarno A. Rakino calls that this planting is a blessing for the Toba Lake environment. Sunarno hopes similar programs can continue to be carried out by the Ministry of BUMN and the BUMN Foundation in the Toba Lake Area which is the pride of North Sumatra and Indonesia.

“We are pleased with this synergist can provide us with a greater opportunity in maintaining Lake Toba Area. Because however, Lake Toba is the Super Priority Area in Indonesia as well as the heart for North Sumatra communities in terms of water availability. We are grateful for the voluntary of the participants who are far coming to Lake Toba to keep the area we proud of this” Sunarno said.

The planted trees include Macadamia Nut (300 seedlings), Pine (100 seedlings), Alpukat (100 seedlings). The planting location is also carried out in the INALUM PLTA area in Paritohan. Plantation is carried out simultaneously by 10 volunteers from 10 BUMN companies in Indonesia. As for the name of 10 participants Bakti BUMN For Indonesia in Lake Toba area among others:

In addition to planting trees, volunteers also do refining regarding planting trees to communities in Tongging Village, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. After submitting the help of football signed the Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir to children at the planting location.

Actually, volunteers are also invited to visit the INALUM PLTA directly in North Sumatra’s Paritohan. In the visit, volunteers were invited to see directly how the work process of PLTA and Bendungan owned by INALUM. They visit Stair Bend, Sigura-gura Bend, and Underground Tunner Power Plant.

Senior VP Power Plant Administration and Support INALUM Ari Bowo calls that INALUM realizes the interest of the preservation of the Toba Lake Area. For that, INALUM is committed to conducting conservation prohram, one of them through the tree planting program to maintain the preservation of the Toba Lake Area.

“INALUM is proud to be able to host in the event initiated by KemBUMN through the Bakti BUMN program for Indonesia, through the tree planting program. This event is collaborated with the premier pilot program, Employee Volunteering Program ( EVP) followed by the representative of employees from 10 BUMN throughout Indonesia. We hope that after this activity, EVP volunteers will remain the spirit of becoming a change agent faces the issue of climate change, driving motors for the program of planting trees anywhere, in order to realize the preservation of nature around us. There is a motivational sentence, if we keep nature, then nature will also keep us ”, said Ari Bowo.

Bakti BUMN Program For Indonesia is the first program of the BUMN Foundation that collaborates every BUMN in Indonesia to improve the soul of BUMN employees’ concern for the surrounding community and environment. In this activity, BUMN Employees can actively become volunteers in the implementation of the TJSL program in each BUMN and BUMN traffic. The program was implemented in 3 (three) different locations, namely; Mandalika NTB in the form of Waste Management Program Through Waste Bank, NTT West Sumba in the form of UMK Training Program, and North Sumatra Toba Lake Area in the form of Tree Planting Program.

Since 2015 – 2021, PT INALUM (Persero) has carried conservation activities by planting as many 732.265 trees in an area of 1.409,63 Ha in 7 districts around Lake Toba. The activity cooperated with several parties among others CLHK, Forestry Office, Pemkab, KPH, DLH,LSM, Public Group, Forest Tani Group, TNI, Polri and Inhutani and PJT1.

As a year of 2022, PT Inalum (Persero) planned planting of trees as much as 308.148 trees consisting of the Water Capture Regional Conservation Program (DTA) Lake Toba by INALUM itself 30,000 trees with an area of about 260 Ha and the Natural Resources Managing Services program along PJT1 as much as 178.148 trees with an area of about 445,37 Ha. This commitment is a full support of INALUM against the Indonesian government program that makes the Toba Lake region as the Super Priority Tourism Destination Area.
