Toba (6/5) - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero) or INALUM shows its concern for nature conservation, especially Lake Toba.
This can be seen from INALUM's commitment from 2015 to 2020 which has made reforestation of around 1,000 hectares of land around Lake Toba. Moreover, Lake Toba is a first-class tourist destination and is included in the top priority for improvement by the national Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
INALUM Managing Director, Sophia I. Watimena said that as a state-owned company operating near Lake Toba, INALUM really cares about the preservation of Lake Toba. And Inalum is certainly committed to taking part in the effort to make green around Lake Toba, especially in the Lake Toba Catchment Area (DTA).
"INALUM, since 2015 to 2020, has reforested around 1,000 hectares of land around Lake Toba. This reforestation is carried out by planting around 500,000 trees in seven regencies around Lake Toba, "said Sophia.
Furthermore, Sophia added that in reforestation, INALUM always actively involves stakeholders around Lake Toba to play a role in reforesting Lake Toba.
"INALUM actively invites agencies around Lake Toba to work together in greening around Lake Toba, PJT-1, Inhutani, Kodam I Bukit Barisan, Poldasu and others, we invite them to work together in greening Lake Toba," added Sophia.
INALUM Deputy Corporate Secretary Mahyaruddin AR on the same occasion also said that in the implementation of reforesting Lake Toba, not only planting trees, INALUM also carried out various other efforts to green Lake Toba.
"In addition to tree planting, INALUM in 2021 will build infiltration and biopore wells, cultivate endemic plants, build new reservoirs outside the Lake Toba catchment area and others to preserve Lake Toba's nature," explained Mahyaruddin.
Mahyaruddin added that in 2021, INALUM will also continue to work together with related agencies in order to preserve Lake Toba's nature.
"INALUM will continue to carry out intensive coordination with all stakeholders for the reforestation of Lake Toba, especially with the seven districts around Lake Toba, namely Humbang Hasundutan, Dairi, Samosir, Toba Samosir, North Tapanuli, Simalungun and Karo," explained Mahyaruddin.
